SPECIAL PROJECT - Specialised Observatory Containers
PLATO observatory containers where manufactured for the university of NSW they are situated at Dome A in the middle of the Antarctic.
They arrived in Antarctica after a 2 month journey by truck, ice-breaker, helicopter and tractor-pulled sled. Both units where manufactured with special insulated properties and joined to make one 20' unit in length. As they hit the ice the unit was split into two 10'units to make them both lighter in weight.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Containerised City
One of Port Container Services' latest projects was a simulated city which we manufactured from modified shipping containers.This container city was designed for the Department of Defence for there Special Anti-Terrorist Programs.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Inspection Room
Another one of Port Container Services projects was a bearing Inspection container that was manufactured for Qantas.
Mr Franks from Qantas said “the unit exceeded everyone's expectations holding just the right air pressure and temperature.
The unit can be used for customs search porcedures and quarantine management facilities.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Entertainment Containers
Shipping Containers at Biennale. This project consisted of four shipping containers that were placed at customs house square for one of our clients.
The containers were used for an information kiosk, café, and DJ both for the harbour parties.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Accommodation Container on Skids
This 40’ Hi-Cube container was modified for Downer EDI Mining. We converted one end (3m) into a toilet block with its own pump out sump and the other end into an air conditioned lunchroom with Kitchen. We also manufactured a large set of skids so the container could be mounted onto it and then skull dragged around the mine site where ever the unit and staff were most needed. This shipping container is completely self sufficient with its own generator and water tanks.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Open Plan Shipping Container
These two shipping containers were joined together after the units two side walls were removed.
The containers were fully insulated and rejoined to create one container with an open plan working area (6m x 4.8m). Our client required the security and strength of shipping container with the space of a conventional portable building.

SPECIAL PROJECT - 20' Dangerous Goods Container/ Side Access
This container was design and built for AMS.
They where required by law to store their hazardous liquid products in an OHS compliant storage container.
This shipping container has had double container doors installed, similar to the doors that open on the back wall of a container with an opening of approx 2400mm wide.

This 20' shipping container was modified to store a variety of specialized chemicals and gas bottles.

Another project was the container bar we manufactured for the restaurant “The Depot on Darby.”
The Depot on Darby is known as on of the best restaurants newcastle has to offer, and was looking for an industrial feel, so they commissioned Port Container Services to create the main feature of the restaurant - the Container Bar.

This dangerous goods storage container was built from a 40ft high cube shipping container and included numerous side opening doors with safety release handles, a personnel door, whirlybirds and heavy duty shelving.
This dangerous goods storage container has a massive storage area of 20,000L and has a bund capacity of over 5,000L

SPECIAL PROJECT - Powered storage container with Gantry System
This 20ft storage container was fitted with a number of heavy duty shelves for storage of mining equipment. It was also with with multiple power outlets, fluorescent lighting, exhaust fan and personnel door with push bar.
The container was also fitted with an overhead gantry system with extension bar, used to help lift the heavy cargo into place onto it's shelving.

SPECIAL PROJECT - Penetration Container
This container was built to support the wastewater neutralisation plant (WWNP) at the Gove alumina refinery in the Northern Territory. It was fully insulated with air conditioning, power, lighting and vynal flooring.
It will be fully fitted out with the switch panels, VSD’s, PLC panel, lighting and other electrical equipment through the penetration holes at the base of the container to help run the wastewater plant.
